Well thanksgiving weekend was very interesting. I had a client and his family go out with me on a fishing trip and I knew where to take them. It was chilly the water was a little rough and murky but I had three spots in mind but the first one did the trick; it was slow in the beginning trying to find the path they were taking was a little tricky. We went to a marked spot and anchored. We fished towards the bank nothing then we threw away and boom black drum small but fun then we caught a couple Whiting. As the tide changed the fish begun to increase in size and number. We started catching keepers then a big red hit taking line on one of the clients pole like it was nothing we started to pull anchor but decided to just release anchor line and reel. After a 15 minute fight we finally caught it a 36 inch red and it was a beauty the guy was thrilled. We fished for another hour caught a few big drum that we threw back knowing they would be wormy and just before we decided to head home the little boy pulls his pole and all your hear to line ripping off. I run to him and tighten the drag its got to be big!! So i help the boy hold the pole and he reals; there is only three wraps of line left on the reel but gaining it back as i dropped the pole downwards and telling him reel reel reel pull up the pole and repeat. A 9 Minute fight goes on and it finally gives up and we pull her in 33 1/2 Inch black drum the kids was amazed and it was as big as he was tall lol. His parents were so proud and excited and i told him we have to let it go it was way to big to keep so he kissed it good bye and it swam away gracefully. What a way to end a Thanksgiving holiday weekend for them.....
